Mentor ProgramMPI D/FW Mentor Program in Honor of Fred H. Knieberg
Thank you for your interest in the MPI D/FW Mentor Program. We are excited you are interested in learning more about the program and hope you will consider becoming a mentor or a mentee.
Mentor Application Mentee Application

Fred H. Knieberg, CMP, had the original idea to create a Mentor Program for the MPI D/FW Chapter. Knieberg dedicated the last few years of his life to creating a successful program designed to provide growth for experienced professionals within the chapter in the development of other members. To honor his work, the chapter invites you to sign up to be a mentor or mentee and participate in this great program.
Program Goals and Objectives
The Mentor Program has been designed to expand individual skill sets within our related professions and to create a safe environment for building valuable relationships with and learning from more seasoned members. The program is available to all current MPI members of the D/FW Chapter. This program matches volunteer mentors from the local chapter with mentees for a 3 month commitment. Mentoring is available to members at any stage in their career who are seeking to develop new skills, make progress toward professional goals, expand industry relationships, and/or increase their chapter knowledge and involvement.
Program Activities and Expectations
The Mentor Program will host a kick-off breakfast once a quarter that will allow the mentor and mentee to meet and plan their schedules for bi-monthly meetings. Mentor / Mentee partnership agreements, possible discussion topics and activity suggestions will be presented during the breakfast. If you are unable to attend the quarterly kick-off breakfast, the mentor will be expected to contact their assigned mentee to establish a mutually acceptable meeting schedule.
During this 3-month Mentor Program we ask that you make the time to meet two to four times per month. The amount of times to meet should be mutually agreed upon by both the mentor and mentee. Please be respectful of the scheduled dates agreed upon to meet and do not cancel unless absolutely unavoidable. During your scheduled meeting time should be an opportunity for the mentee to ask questions and learn more about our industry.
The program will be continuous throughout the year with mentors and mentees paired as applications are received. The mentor / mentee do not have to wait until the next quarterly kick-off meeting to begin the process. At the end of the 3-month period a survey will be provided that will allow us to track the progress of the sessions so we can continue to grow and improve this program. You will also be invited to the following quarter’s kick-off breakfast to share your feedback with the newly assigned mentors and mentees.

Why Join as a Mentor
Being a Mentor is a very valuable experience. You will be able to share your industry knowledge and experiences to truly help someone grow in a career. As a Mentor, you will not only have the amazing feeling of contributing first hand to helping someone develop professionally, but also you will be able to gain skills yourself. A relationship with a Mentee will also allow you to practice managerial skills and build professional networks.
· Giving back: Volunteering to be a mentor really makes a difference in someone’s life.
· Interact with others and make new friends.
· Help someone succeed.
· Learn about another company and practice management skills.
· Network: Build professional networks in the business community by meeting your Mentee and his/her contacts as well.
Why Join as a Mentee
Our mentees gain invaluable first-hand information from successful professionals who share their time, knowledge and experiences with them. Mentees have an opportunity to develop a close professional relationship with an experienced industry professional. All this serves to develop new skills, make progress toward professional goals, expand industry relationships, and/or increase your chapter knowledge and involvement.
· Focus your career path and set goals.
· Industry and Chapter Connections.
· Making more informed decisions on your path to success.
· Learn about another company or industry.
· Network: Build professional networks in the business community by meeting your Mentor and his/her contacts as well.
After submitting your mentor or mentee application, someone from the Mentor Program Committee will contact you. For further information, please contact Christine Nathan, Mentor Program Chairperson at christine.nathan@fiserv.com or 214-707-9610.
